IDXChannel - Vice President Ma’ruf Amin is optimistic that the Government of Saudi Arabia would increase Indonesia’s Hajj quota. Indonesians are really eager to partake in the annual pilgrimage.
The vice president conveyed the wish while receiving the courtesy call of Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Indonesia. Indonesia is a country with the largest Muslim population in the world.
Indonesia is facing a problem regarding the Hajj pilgrimage quota. In some regions, Hajj waiting time has reached up to 40 years.
According to the vice president’s spokesperson, Masduki Baidlowi, the Ambassador said he would convey the vice president's wish to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Vice President also expressed hope for an increase in Saudi Arabia's investment in Indonesia.
“The enthusiasm for Hajj in Indonesia is extraordinary because this is the largest Muslim country in the world,” Masduki said.
Saudi Arabia's investment in Indonesia has been decreasing in the last three years. In response to this, the Ambassador said he would do his best to strengthen relations between both Nations.
