Bank Indonesia to Maintain Inflation at around 3 Percent in 2023
Bank Indonesia is optimistic that it can maintain annual inflation at around three percent plus minus one percent in 2023.
IDXChannel – Bank Indonesia is optimistic that it can maintain annual inflation at around three percent plus minus one percent in 2023. To achieve this target in the midst of global economic challenges Bank Indonesia has taken various steps including increasing the BI benchmark interest rate by front loaded pre emptive and forward looking.
Executive Director Head of the Economic and Monetary Policy Departemen of Bank Indonesia Solokin M Juhro said that BI’s benchmark interest rates needs to be raised higher at the start to inticipate inflation risk taking into account future risk.
With the increase in Bank Indonesia’s benchmark interest rate inflation expectation have also decreased from the previous 6.9 percent to return to below 6 percent in 2022 but this value is still higher that the government’s target.
