IDXChannel - More than 200 entrepreneurs from Central Java expressed their readiness to seize export opportunities to Latin America and the Caribbean.

They attended a seminar titled Indonesia Contigo: Business Prospects and Opportunities between Indonesia and Latin America and the Caribbean, held in Semarang on 30-31 May.

“Entrepreneurs should take this opportunity to develop business with the region", said Nidya Kartikasari, Director of American and European Intra and Interregional Cooperation at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a media release on Satursday (1/6/2024).

The entrepreneurs were introduced to numerous business opportunities by representatives from five Latin American and Caribbean countries, namely Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, and Mexico who have visited Semarang, Kendal, and Jepara prior to the Seminar.

Their visit aims to explore business cooperation with Central Java mostly in furniture, home decor, footwears and electronics.

Mexico, Colombia, Chile, and Peru are the member of Pacific Alliance, an alliance of Latin American countries whose free trade agreements are the most advanced in the regions.

The event is a collaboration between the Ministry and the Provincial Government of Central Java. To start off, the five Latin American and the Caribbean representatives were received by the Acting Governor of Central Java, Nana Sudjana and the Acting Regent of Jepara, Edy Supriyanta.

During their stay in Central Java, the delegations visited Kendal Industrial Park and furniture centers in Jepara, as well as batik workshop in Semarang, Lawang Sewu historical building and Sam Poo Kong temple, immersing themselves in Indonesia's rich cultural heritage. (WHY)
