IDXChannel - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Erick Thohir has revealed there are still 81 million millennials who do not own homes. The average generation that does not yet have housing is in the productive age range, namely those aged 40 years with different statuses.

"81 million millennials, according to data from the Misnitry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), have not owned homes," Erick said when inaugurating a housing project in Depok on Thursday  13/4/2023).

Even so, Erick is optimistic that state companies can help provide housing for young adults. He is committed to resuming cooperation with the PUPR Ministry.

The related SOEs include Perum Perumnas, PT Bank Tabungan Negara Tbk, (BTN), PT PLN (Persero), PT KAI (Persero), and construction SOEs.

According to Eric, the transit oriented development (TOD) project in Depok is a one-stop solution to various problems, including housing backlog, traffic congestion and economic development.

In this project, Perumnas is the developer of the complex, while KAI owns the land and operates the train station near the project.

Furthermore, Bank BTN offers affordable housing loans, while PLN’s Icon+ provides internet services.

"Mr Basuki (PUPR Minister) also played an important role during the start of the project in 2021," said Erick. (WHY)
