The forum will be held in parallel with the 43rd ASEAN Summit and the East Asia Summit. The opening ceremony will be attended by the President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and other leaders of ASEAN member states.

"This inaugural forum aims to build stronger and more inclusive cooperation and collaboration between ASEAN Member States and partners in the Indo-Pacific region, establishing ASEAN as an epicentrum of growth," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a media release on Thursday (24/8/2023).

"The AIPF also serves as a platform for public, state-owned enterprises, and private sectors of ASEAN Member States, and ASEAN's external partners to engage in constructive discussions, cooperate on concrete projects, and enhance collaboration in the Indo-Pacific region," the Ministry stated.

The AIPF will focus on three issues of common interest, namely green infrastructure and resilient supply chains, digital transformation and creative economy, as well as sustainable and innovative financing. Some leaders will deliver keynote address at this event.

Various panel discussions and talk shows will host executives, as well as experts. Project exhibitions and business matching meetings will also be part of the AIPF series of events. The AIPF is held as an implementation of the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP), initiated by Indonesia and adopted in 2019 by ASEAN member states. The Outlook is an initiative that seeks to reinforce an inclusive regional architecture. It is also intended to enhance collaboration instead of rivalry, promote win-win cooperation, and provide new opportunities offered in the Indo-Pacific region. (WHY)
