Indonesian Consulate General Explores Economic Cooperation with Southern Philippine City

The Economic Consul presented the specifics of the Indonesia Economic Outlook, Nusantara Capital City (IKN), the halal industry in Indonesia, Indonesia-Philippines relationship, as well as the Tourism sector in Indonesia, efforts to encourage the reopening of the Manado-Davao flight route, as well as the reopening of the Gensan - Bitung/Manado sea shipping route.

 The meeting discussed several matters including Indonesia's economic profile in general, the economic profile of Tagum city, followed by the tourism profile, the potential for economic cooperation between Indonesia and Tagum, Tagum's proposal to establish G-to-G cooperation through the scheme of signing the Sister City MOU, requests for sharing knowledge about halal tourism from Indonesia to Tagum, as well as sharing knowledge about the successful management of banana plantations as an export commodity from Tagum to Indonesia.

"The Tagum City Government also said that the business association in its city also imports raw materials for its business products from Indonesia, and for that it is very hopeful that direct flights and shipping lines between Manado - Davao and Gensan - Bitung can be opened soon, because it will be very efficient and effective," the Indonesian Consulate General stated in a media release, Tueday (2/1/2024).

After the meeting, the team was also invited to visit the office of The City Economic Enterprises Office (CEEO), a government agency that aims to help and encourage women to become entrepreneurs. 

During the visit, the Indonesian Consulate General in Davao City Team also conducted a market survey in Tagum City and Panabo City to see the extent to which Indonesian products are accepted in the Mindanao region. 

From the results of the market survey, Indonesian products continue to arrive in Mindanao, this indicates that the Mindanao people accept and are interested in Indonesian products. (WHY)
