Jokowi and Tanzanian President Discuss Deepening Economic Ties

According to President Jokowi, the two leaders agreed to strengthen relations between Indonesia and Tanzania.
"The friendship between Indonesia and Tanzania is further strengthened today with President Samia's visit to Indonesia where we have agreed to advance concrete cooperation in various fields," said Jokowi at the Bogor Presidential Palace, onThursday (25/1/2024) .
This year, Indonesia will hold the second Indonesia Africa Forum to strengthen south-south cooperation in which Tanzania is one of the main partners.
A preferential trade agreement, said Jokowi, is needed to increase trade between the two countries. The initial round of negotiations is expected to begin this year.
"Moreover, regarding investment cooperation, cooperation in the oil and gas sector continues to be strengthened. Pertamina has strengthened cooperation in Mnazi Bay," said Jokowi.
Jokowi also conveyed the importance of establishing a bilateral investment treaty to protect investment cooperation between the two countries.
"Then thirdly, regarding development cooperation, Indonesia is committed to supporting the Farmers, Agriculture and Rural Training Center in Morogoro," said the Indonesian Head of State.
Regarding health cooperation, Jokowi continued, Indonesian pharmaceutical companies are ready to fulfill needs in Tanzania. Jokowi pushed for cooperation between Indonesia's Drug and Food Monitoring Agency (BPOM) and its Tanzanian partner.
"Finally regarding the situation in Gaza, the two countries have the same stance and will continue to coordinate to support the struggle of the Palestinian people," said Jokowi. (WHY)
