ASEAN Family Day 2023 Held in Brussels
The ASEAN Brussels Committee (ABC), consisting of 10 embassies of ASEAN member countries plus the Timor Leste Embassy in Brussels, held ASEAN Family Day 2023.

Located at the consular services office of the Indonesian Embassy in Brussels, this year's ASEAN Family Day activities were enlivened by arts and cultural performances from ASEAN member countries.
Indonesia performed the Saman Dance which was performed beautifully by the Dharma Wanita PBB of the Indonesian Embassy in Brussels, while representatives of other ASEAN countries presented their respective traditional arts performances such as Thingyan (Myanmar), Tinikling (Philippines), Fon Dok Mai (Laos), and many more. Apart from that, various typical Southeast Asian culinary delights are also served, such as Chicken Satay, Nasi Lemak, and Pad Thai, as well as traditional games such as Kuti-kuti, Micado, Chapteh, and Sunda Manda.
"Even the Ambassadors of ASEAN countries were enthusiastic about taking part in cracker-eating and marble-racing competitions in a warm atmosphere," the Indonesian Embassy in Brussels stated in a media release on Tuesday (10/10/2023).
ASEAN Family Day is an annual event resulting from collaboration between the Embassies of ASEAN member countries in Brussels. This year's ASEAN Family Day event also feels special because it is the first time that Timor Leste participated in this activity.
Apart from commemorating the 56th anniversary of ASEAN, ASEAN Family Day activities are also a forum for the diplomatic corps and diaspora of ASEAN countries in Belgium to strengthen feelings of brotherhood and kinship, in accordance with the ASEAN motto 'One Vision, One Identity, One Community'.
Apart from being attended by staff and extended family from the embassies of ASEAN member countries in Brussels, ASEAN Day 2023 was also attended by representatives from the European Commission, European Parliament, and other European Union institutions. (WHY)
