ASEAN Secretary-General to Visit UK to Beef Up Cooperation

Secretary-General of the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Dr Kao Kim Hourn is set to visit the United Kingdom (UK) on 1-3 November.

IDXChannel - Secretary-General of the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Dr Kao Kim Hourn is set to visit the United Kingdom (UK) on 1-3 November.

"At the invitation of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the UK, Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr Kao Kim Hourn will lead the ASEAN Secretariat’s delegation to a working visit to the UK on 1-3 November," the ASEAN Secretariat stated in a media release on Monday (30/10/2023).

"On this historic visit, Dr Kao is scheduled to meet with key high-level figures from the UK’s government and private sector with an aim to beef up cooperation in all priority areas covering political-security, economic, and socio-cultural fronts between ASEAN and the UK," it added.

To promote ASEAN diplomacy and visibility, Dr Kao will visit the University of Oxford where he will give a special lecture on the future of ASEAN beyond 2025.

Earlier this week, the Secretary-General of ASEAN attended the 10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum in China. 

The forum was attended by more than 90 countries and international organisations. (WHY)
