Indonesia is committed to strengthening global health architecture in anticipation to future pandemics.
IDXChannel - Indonesia is committed to strengthening global health architecture in anticipation to future pandemics.
This was emphasized by Vice Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir when receiving a visit from the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) this week.
The visit aims to discuss collaboration between Indonesia and CEPI, especially in advancing national vaccine production independence and ensuring equitable access to health products for all countries in the world.
"Collaboration between Indonesia and CEPI holds significance in supporting vaccine industry and local manufacturing capacity, as well as development of a pandemic response ecosystem in Indonesia. This is in line with President Prabowo's priorities," said the Vice Foreign Minister, Tuesday (12/2/2025).
CEPI emphasized support towards increasing Indonesia's vaccine production capacity, among others, through cooperation with PT Bio Farma.
Vice Foreign Minister Tata Nasir extended Indonesia’s appreciation for CEPI for its support for Indonesia and hopes that CEPI could advance partnerships with wider national vaccine producers in Indonesia, with a view to realize Indonesia's vision as a hub for vaccine research, production, and distribution in the region.
"I also hope that CEPI could provide support for the development of tuberculosis vaccine in Indonesia. Eradicating tuberculosis is a priority of the Indonesian Government which is in line with the CEPI program," he said.
CEPI is a public-private partnership organization founded in Davos, Switzerland in 2017 by Norway, India, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Wellcome Trust, and the World Economic Forum with a focus on developing health products to anticipate future health risks. (Wahyu Dwi Anggoro)
