Indonesia and France Discuss Ways to Strengthen Cooperation in Key Areas

IDXChannel - Indonesian Minister for Foreign Affairs Sugino met with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noel Barrot in Jakarta on Wednesday (26/3/2025).

"We discussed ways to further strengthen our bilateral ties in key areas of cooperation under the IndonesiaFrance Strategic Partnership and its Plan of Action," Sugiono said on X.

The two countries are commemorating 75 years of diplomatic relations this year. French President Emmanuel Macron is scheduled to visit Indonesia in May.

French investment in Indonesia reached USD328 million in 2024. Sugiono called for more French investemnt in key sectors.

The key sectors are renewable energy, critical minerals, creative economy, logistics and transportation, and green infrastructure.

"IFrench investment in Indonesia shows a very positive trend," said Sugiono in a joint press statement.

In the creative and digital economy sector, the two countries agreed to strengthen collaboration to create a digital economy ecosystem.

"Hopefully there will be more joint projects in this sector," he said. (Wahyu Dwi Anggoro)
