IDXChannel – President Joko Widodo urged transportation minister to be careful while allotting the quota of flights to fereign and domestic airlines despite the 84 percent spike in demand.
President instructed the minister to determine the productivity that could be generated by each additional flight slot. For instance Soekarno Hatta Airports Tangerang needs to be improved to eliminate flight delays and sddress increased passenger capacity among others.
Many of the requests for additional slots have come from airlines from Qatar, Turkey, The Philippines and other foreign flights.
“Foreign airlines request additional quotas such as Singapore Airlines, while domestic AirAsia and several other airlines. There is a request for 166 slots, or an increase of 84 percent. However, the President directed that even if there are many requests, do it carefully, because on the one hand you have to look at productivity from connectivity, whether it is efficient or not, if it is not efficient, don't give too many opportunities,” he said.
