Before visiting Indonesia, Gates attended the Philanthropy Asia Summit in Singapore. The Gates Foundation is one of the largest charitable foundations in the world.

In addition to meeting President Prabowo, Gates is also scheduled to see the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program at an elementary school in East Jakarta.
