Prabowo to Visit China This week, Meet Xi Jinping

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to visit Beijing on 8-10 November at the invitation of China's President Xi Jinping.

IDXChannel - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to visit Beijing on 8-10 November at the invitation of China's President Xi Jinping.

"President Prabowo Subianto will undertake a state visit to Beijing, China," the Indonesian Foreign Ministry said in a statement today (5/11/2024).

"During his visit to Beijing, President Prabowo will meet with President Xi Jinping and other top Chinese leaders," the Ministry added.

According to the Ministry, this visit holds significant importance for the commitment to strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Indonesia and China in various fields.

Prabowo was officially inaugurated as the new Indonesian president last month after winning the presidential race in February.

Following the inauguration, Xi sent a congratulatory message to Prabowo on assuming the presidency of Indonesia.

Xi pointed out that China and Indonesia are traditional friendly neighbors. The comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries has been growing steadily, entering a new stage of building a community with a shared future. 

Next year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Indonesia, which will provide a new opportunity for advancing bilateral cooperation. (Wahyu Dwi Anggoro)
