Sri Mulyani Urges IsDB to Improve Welfare of Muslims

Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati held a bilateral meeting with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group President.

IDXChannel - Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati held a bilateral meeting with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group President Dr. Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Saturday (13/5/2023).

"As one of the founding countries, the Indonesian government certainly wants to be a stronger partner to be able to increase its role," said Sri in her official statement on Monday (15/4/2023).

Indonesia's new role as one of the main shareholders is expected to strengthen IsDB's capital, increase its lending capacity, and help realize the welfare of Muslims.

During the meeting, Sri also discussed IsDB's efforts to tackle food and climate change crises.

"We also discussed the South-South Partnership (SSP) collaboration through PT SMI's blended finance and also Hajj and Umrah supply chains," said Sri.

IsDB is the only multilateral financial institution that provides financing under sharia principles.

"IsDB plays a very important role in encouraging social economic development in member countries and Muslim communities in general," said Sri. (WHY)
