Luhut Meets South Korean Official to Discuss EV
The Indonesian government continues to discuss business cooperation in various sectors, including electric vehicles (EV).

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Panjaitan held a meeting with South Korean First Vice Industry Minister Jang Youngjin on Tuesday (16/05/2023).
According to Luhut, this meeting discussed the cooperation opprotunities in technology and innovation. Artificial intelligence is starting to change all aspects of life and South Korea is a country that has proven to be advanced in this field.
First, Luhut proposed cooperation on the development of seaweed and fisheries sectors. Luhut said seaweed could even substitute oil and raw materials of plastic products.
"I hope we can form a joint team to immediately see the potential of this seaweed sector. We can together visit Buleleng, Bali in July," he said in a written statement, Tuesday (16/5/2023).
The meeting also discussed banking, insurance and financial cooperation. Previously Luhut had met with the FSS Governor, Pak Lee Bo Hyun.
"He supports cooperation with Indonesia," said Luhut.
Then, the development of EV and lithium batteries was also discussed during the meeting. Currently, Indonesia has established good cooperation with Hyundai Motor. Luhut hopes that Korean companies can increase investment in these fields.
"Later on, we will be able to export vehicles manufactured in Indonesia to ASEAN countries, Australia, Africa, and all right-hand drive countries in the world," he said. (WHY)
