IDXChannel - Australian Minister for Industry and Science Ed Husic is set to visit Indonesia and Singapore this week.
The purpose of the visit is to continue momentum toward closer economic cooperation with these important regional partners.
The Minister is scheduled to participate in a series bilateral meetings with senior ministerial counterparts focusing on opportunities to strengthen economic relationships with both countries.
This includes following through on the recent agreement by Prime Minister Albanese and President Joko Widodo to explore ways for collaboration on Indonesia’s efforts to develop an electric vehicle manufacturing ecosystem.
“Indonesia and Singapore aren’t just our close neighbours, they are vibrant, successful economies and they want to do more with Australia," said Husic in a media release on Monday (24/7/2023)
“Deepening our economic engagement will bring greater prosperity for our country and our region. And it will help us work together confront challenges, like responding to climate change," he added.
The Minister’s visit will build on the strong engagement the Australian government has forged with Indonesia and Singapore since coming to office.
This includes the successful Annual Australia-Indonesia Leaders meeting in Sydney earlier this month and last year’s historic Green Economy deal with Singapore. (WHY)
