IDXChannel - United States (US) Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Marisa Lago is leading a high-level delegation to Indonesia on 15-20 November.
It is part of the Innovative Technologies for Urban Infrastructure Development Trade Mission to deepen economic ties, advance US-Indonesia trade, and engage on key areas of shared interest, including digital infrastructure, smart cities, and sustainability.
“This trade mission, the US Department of Commerce’s first-ever focused on smart cities, brings to Indonesia some of the most cutting-edge US companies across the technology and infrastructure industries,” said Lago in a media release on Tuesday (19/11/2024).
“We’ll be pursuing the numerous opportunities for US companies to support Indonesia’s ambitious digital transformation agenda, as well as its plans to develop smart city infrastructure in hundreds of cities," she added.
Lago’s trip includes meetings with key stakeholders including senior Indonesian government officials and US business leaders in Jakarta and Indonesia’s new capital, Nusantara.
During their meeting in Washington DC last week, US President Joe Biden and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to advance the goals of the US-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
“This trade mission represents the United States’ steadfast commitment to strengthening private sector ties with Indonesia. We are dedicated to fostering partnerships that bring quality project development to Indonesia in collaboration with the Indonesian people, supporting long-term growth and sustainable urban development," US Ambassador to Indonesia Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir stated.
