Australian Governor of New South Wales Visits Indonesia to Bolster Trade

Governor of New South Wales (NSW) Margaret Beazley is visiting Indonesia to strengthen NSW’s diplomatic, trade and people-to-people links with Indonesia.

IDXChannel - Governor of New South Wales (NSW) Margaret Beazley is visiting Indonesia to strengthen NSW’s diplomatic, trade and people-to-people links with Indonesia. 

The visit, from 25–27 May, is her first official visit to Indonesia as Governor of NSW and is focused on Jakarta.

During the visit, Governor Beazley is scheduled to meet with a range of Indonesian government officials, prominent local business leaders, members of the Indonesia Australia Business Council and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce, and alumni from NSW’s educational institutions. 

She is also scheduled to open the first New South Wales Education Expo in Jakarta, showcasing the world-class education available to international students in her home state.

“Indonesia and New South Wales share a strong and sincere friendship, and I am pleased to say that it is a friendship that is blossoming,” said Beazley in a media release on Friday (26/5/2023).

“With over half of the Indonesian students in Australia choosing to study in New South Wales and our State’s businesses increasingly looking at growth opportunities in Indonesia these are exciting times. It is a great honour to be engaging with Indonesian officials and leaders in business and education, to listen and learn, and to champion New South Wales," she added.

According to Australian Ambasssador to Indonesia Penny Williams, NSW and Indonesia have enjoyed close partnerships in trade, investment and education for decades Governor Beazley’s visit is an opportunity to explore new partnerships in rapid growth sectors such as digital, fintech and health. 

"I look forward to seeing the relationship continue to grow,” said the Australian Ambassador. (WHY)
