Consumer Confidence Index in December Rose to 119.9

The December 2022 Consumer Survey indicates that public optimism about economic conditions is increasing.

IDXChannel - The December 2022 Consumer Survey indicates that public optimism about economic conditions is increasing. 

This is indicated by the December 2022 Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) of 119.9, slightly higher than 119.1 in November 2022.

Quoting the Bank Indonesia website, Monday (9/1/2023), the increase in consumer optimism in December 2022 was driven by an increase in consumer confidence in current economic conditions, as reflected in the Current Economic Condition Index (IKE) recorded at 112.4 higher than 110.3 in the previous month.

Meanwhile, consumer expectations for the economy going forward are still in the optimistic zone (>100) of 127.3, although not as high as the previous month.

Currently, (IKE) has increased in all its constituent components, especially the Current Income Index which rose by 3.9 points to 120.3 in December 2022.

Furthermore, the Current Employment Availability Index and the Durable Goods Purchase Index also increased, recording 110.9 and 106.2, respectively, higher than 109.5 and 104.9 in the previous month.

In December 2022, consumer perceptions of current income compared to 6 months ago were observed to increase in some expenditure categories, namely in respondents with expenditure levels above IDR 3.1 million. 

Based on age group, the Current Income Index is also indicated to increase in some age categories den, especially in the group of respondents aged 31–40 years.
