Govt Still Calculating Incentives for EV Industry

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stated that the Ministry of Finance is still calculating the amount of incentives to support the electric vehicle industry.

IDXChannel – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stated that the Ministry of Finance is still calculating the amount of incentives to be provided to support the electric vehicle industry.

Jokowi stated that the government will prioritize incentives for two-wheeled electric vehicles.

Previously, the Indonesian government has expressed its readiness to enter the electric vehicle era through the issuance of Presidential Regulation Number 55 of 2019 regarding the Acceleration of the Battery Electric Vehicles for Road Transportation Program. 

It has also devised a roadmap for the development of the battery electric vehicle industry through Industry Minister’s Regulation Number 27 of 2020 on Specifications, Development Roadmap and Calculations of Domestic Component Levels of Battery Electric Vehicles.

“The incentives are still being formulated by the Ministry of Finance how much is for cars and for electric motorbikes. The priority of course is electric motorbikes,” Jokowi said.

“We will push the big ecosystem from upstream to downstream. For electric cars, we will continue to push it,” he stated.
