Indonesia’s balance of trade in September 2023 experienced a surplus of USD3.42 billion.

IDXChannel - Indonesia’s balance of trade in September 2023 experienced a surplus of USD3.42 billion, according to data released by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS)

It was mainly affected by a surplus of non-oil and gas of USD5.34 billion. On the other hand, there was a deficit of USD1.92 billion in oil and gas.

"Indonesia's balance of trade recorded a surplus for 41 consecutive months in September 2023," said Acting Head of BPS, Amalia Adininggar, in Jakarta on Monday (16/10/2023).

Cumulatively, Amalia added, Indonesia's trade balance in January-September 2023 logged a surplus of USD27.75 billion. 

"This figure decreased by USD12.10 billion compared to the same period last year, which was recorded at USD39.85 billion cumulatively," Amalia stated.

BPS recorded that Indonesia's exports in September 2023 reached USD20.76 billion, decreasing by 5.63 percent compared to exports in August 2023.

Meanwhile, Indonesia's import value in September 2023 reached USD17.34 billion, down by 8.15 percent compared to the previous month. (WHY)
