Indonesia's Economic Recover Will Countinue, Says OJK

Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Mahendra Siregar revealed that Indonesia's economic recovery will continue.

IDXChannel - Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Mahendra Siregar revealed that Indonesia's economic recovery will continue. Domestic consumption and investment are said to be supporting growth and are supported by the end of the Covid-19 pandemic emergency response period.

"We believe that most of the risks of transmission of slowing global economic growth, including the impact of commodity growth figures, declining export revenues, and tightening global liquidity are understood and can be mitigated appropriately this year," said Mahendra at the Financial Services Industry Annual Meeting, Monday (6/2/2023).

Then, the five-year political cycle that takes place in 2024 can also accelerate the growth of consumption and industrial activity, especially labor-intensive. Mahendra said the textile, food and beverage, printing, and transportation industries will increase.

"The general election and the vice president this time is the fifth after the reform. Experience shows that even though the political temperature is rising, the conditions of security, legal certainty and climate are trying to be maintained properly," he continued.
The upcoming five-year political cycle, according to Mahendra, will cement Indonesia's position as the world's largest presidential democracy. That way, Indonesia is even more attractive to investors and can increase its investment portfolio for economic growth.
