IDXChannel -Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), as Chair of ASEAN, held a meeting with Japanese business leaders on Monday (18/12/2023), the last day of his visit in Japan.

The business meeting was  hosted by the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren) and the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The meeting was attended by around 78 Chairpersons and CEOs from various Japanese companies engaged in infrastructure, energy, automotive and other businesses.

"In his speech, the President mentioned three key priorities of future cooperation," Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi said in a press briefing after the meeting.

First, Japanese companies were encouraged to support energy transition in ASEAN by facilitating innovative financing and technology transfer. Secondly, they were also invited to help develop ASEAN as a hub for the global EV sector.

"And lastly, he encouraged stronger regional economic cooperation through the optimisation of RCEP, the ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership, and Japan's concrete projects in the ASEAN Indo-Pacific Forum," she continued.

In Japan, Jokowi attended the ASEAN-Japan Commemorative Summit, the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) Leaders' Meeting and a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. (WHY)
