IDXChannel - Australian Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs is scheduled to visit Indonesia to attend the 55th ASEAN Economic Ministers’ Meeting and the Second Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement Ministers’ Meeting this week.

"Australia is committed to deepening our economic integration in our region, supported by the $46 million Regional Trade for Development initiative," he said in a media release on Monday (21/8/2023).

"I will also attend the East Asia Summit Economic Ministers’ Meeting," he added.

He will also emphasise Australia’s support for open and inclusive trade, a resilient economic region, and deeper economic integration and development.

"Australia is committed to working closely with ASEAN to deliver outcomes under our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and our regional trade agreements," he stated.

According to him, Indonesia is central to Australia’s prosperity and our security, as reflected by our membership of these regional trade partnerships and the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.

"Australia is pleased to support Indonesia’s leadership as ASEAN Chair and our shared priorities to advance a region that is open, stable and prosperous where sovereignty is respected," he concluded. (WHY)
