IDXChannel - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to visit India on 24-26 January. He will meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and attend the ceremony of 76th India's Republic Day as the chief guest.

"At the invitation of His Excellency Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India, His Excellency Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, will conduct a state visit to India as the Chief Guest of the 76th Republic Day of India from 24 to 26 January 2025," the Indonesian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursdau (16/1/2025).

This visit will be Prabowo's first state visit to India which will mark the 75th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Indonesia-India. 

The visit is set to strengthen the Strategic Comprehensive Partnership between the two countries which was established in 2018.

Prabowo will receive a ceremonial welcome from Indian President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Presidential Palace. 

On 25 January, he will meet with Modi at Hyderabad House. He is also scheduled to visit the Raj Ghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

Prabowo and Modi will also witness the exchange of several government-to-government memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in various sectors, among other health, culture, education, maritime safety and security, and traditional medicine quality assurance, aimed at further enhancing the strategic partnership between the two nations.

On 26 January,  Prabowo will attend the ceremony of 76th India’s Republic Day as the chief guest. He will be the fourth Indonesian president to be invited to the event which is accompanied by the historical participation of 352 Indonesian military personnel in the defile and marching band at the Republic Day parade.

"His visit to India underscores the flourishing strategic cooperation between Indonesia and India, particularly in economic, defence, and maritime affairs since the two countries reached an agreement on a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2018," the Ministry concluded. (Wahyu Dwi Anggoro)
