IDXChannel - The government is committed to continuously increasing the use of new and renewable energy. The government's commitment was reiterated by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif recently.
During the IPO ceremony of Pertamina Geothermal Energy, the minister expressed his hope that the company would commit to developing geothermal energy in Indonesia. In addition, he added that government would continue to encourage the use of geothermal energy to support the availability of clean energy in Indonesia.
“We really need business actors in the field of new and renewable energy. PGE’s capacity is only 680 megawatts, but the opportunities reach dozens of gigawatts domestically,” he said.
“The government continues to encourage the use of geothermal energy to support the availability of clean energy in Indonesia,” he added.
According to the Minister, Industries in Indonesia really need clean energy in order to be able to compete in the international market. Therefore he sees that Indonesia still needs companies that want to get involved in the new and renewable energy sector.
