Indonesia Inflation Decelerates to 3.08 Percent in July 2023

IDXChannel - Indonesia's year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation rate in July 2023 was 3.08 percent, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 115.24, according to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).

"The highest inflation saw in Merauke at 5.21 percent each with a CPI of 116.10, while the lowest saw in Gunungsitoli at 0.50 percent with a CPI of 116.28," BPS stated in a media release on Tuesday (1/8/2023).

Inflation occurred as the prices went up, as indicated by the increase in most of the expenditure groups indices, namely: Food, Beverages, and Tobacco Group of 1.90 percent; Clothing and Footwear Group of 1.42 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, and Household Fuel Group of 2.03 percent; Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance Group of 2.37 percent; Health Group of 2.69 percent; Transport Group of 9.58 percent; Recreation, Sport, and Culture Group of 2.02 percent; Education Group of 3.07 percent; Food and Beverage Serving Services/Restaurant Group of 3.08 percent; and Personal Care and Other Services Group of 3.98 percent. 

"On the other hand, Information, Communication, and Financial Services Group recorded a deflation of 0.24 percent," the statistics agency added.

In June 2023, Indonesia's annual inflation was 3.52 percent. Prices have been steadily declining in the past year.
