IDXChannel - Dozens of Indonesian nationals will return home after being freed from illegal cyber scam hubs in Myanmar.
According to the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 84 Indonesian nationals were evacuated from Myawaddy, Myanmar, to Maesot, Thailand on Thursday.
"Upon arrival in Maesot, the Thai authorities conducted health checks, immigration procedures, and the National Referral Mechanism (NRM) for signs of trafficking victims," the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a media release.
"Previously, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs team, together with the Indonesian Embassies in Yangon and Bangkok, had been in Maesot since 23 February to conduct intensive contacts with various parties in Thailand and Myanmar," it stated.
The freed Indonesian nationals consist of 69 men and 15 women. All are in good health.
