IDXChannel - Canadian Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade, and Economic Development Mary Ng is leading a trade mission to Indonesia and the Philippines from 1-6 December.

The trade mission consists of more than 300 representatives from over 190 companies and organizations. They seek to broaden their reach in Southeast Asia.

"Our largest Trade Mission to date with a delegation of over 300 people from more than 190 Canadian businesses is here to build connections in the dynamic Indo-Pacific region," Ng said on X today (3/12/2024).

With the finalized Indonesia-Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), Ng said, Canadian businesses are ready to explore new opportunities in Southeast Asia's largest economy.

"This groundbreaking mission is creating game-changing partnerships and unlocking unprecedented business opportunities," she stated.

During the trade mission, the minister is scheduled to meet with key Indonesian and Philippine stakeholders about topics of shared interest, such as Canada-ASEAN relations, climate change, and the green economy transition.

Last week, ahead of her departure,  Ng met in Vancouver with representatives from Canadian businesses, some of whom are joining the minister on the trade mission.

She took the opportunity to highlight how these trade missions showcase Canadian innovation and capabilities while helping to develop valuable business and investment connections in the Indo-Pacific region. (Wahyu Dwi Anggoro)
