Indonesia and Spain continue to strengthen economic cooperation through the implementation of the Bilateral Financial Cooperation Mechanism.

This cooperation was one of the main topics discussed during the 3rd Indonesia-Spain Political Consultation held in Jakarta on Tuesday (11/3/2025).
The Indonesian delegation was led by Director-General for American and European Affairs at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Umar hadi, while the Spanish delegation was headed by Director-General for North America, Eastern Europe, and Asia Pacific at the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Luis Fonseca Sanchez.
“We have seen direct benefits from the Indonesia-Spain Bilateral Financial Cooperation Mechanism, which facilitates the implementation of strategic projects such as the Maritime and Fisheries Integrated Surveillance System and Strengthening Cybersecurity Ecosystem in Indonesia. This cooperation not only improves funding efficiency but also opens up opportunities for innovative collaboration across various sectors,” said Director-General Umar in a media release.
He further added that the mechanism supports the strengthening of trade and investment relations between the two countries, delivering direct economic benefits to the people of Indonesia and Spain.
“Spain deeply values this partnership, which embodies a shared vision to promote economic growth and innovation.” said Director-General Sanchez.
“We hope that in the future, there will be even more collaboration, especially in the renewable energy sector, such as Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP)," he dded.
Spain is one of the leading countries in Europe in the development of renewable energy, particularly wind and solar power. In 2024, renewable energy production contributed 56 persen of the country's energy supply. (Wahyu Dwi Anggoro)
