IDXChannel - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif said that to achieve the ambitious target of reducing emissions, a large funding capability is needed.
At the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2023 held in Davos, Switzerland, Arifin explained, Indonesia has set a detailed roadmap that requires an investment of 2.5 trillion US dollars, of which more than half will be absorbed by the energy sector.
"Here we need help and support from financial organizations to create a global balance through funding mobilization with a simple and easier to understand mechanism, so that it can be accessed and affordable for all," said Arifin.
According to Arifin, not all countries have the capacity in terms of funding, be it developed countries, developing countries and undeveloped countries. Arifin said, in 2022, investment realization is 1.97 US dollars, of which the total investment plan until 2025 is 57.9 billion US dollars'.
"Until 2030, the energy transition investment plan is 125.9 billion US dollars, there is an additional investment of 68 billion US dollars in 2025. You can imagine or not, how much money do we need to achieve Net Zero Emissions globally?," said Arifin. Arifin also invited investors to support Indonesia's efforts to carry out the energy transition and Net Zero Emission, as well as open collaboration opportunities with partner countries and international organizations.
"We are very happy to be able to discuss with the audience," concluded Arifin.
