Jokowi Expresses Condolences over Death of Iranian President Raisi
Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has offered his condolences for the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash.

"Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. Deepest condolences over the demise of President of Iran, His Excellency Sayyed Ebrahim Raisi and the accompanying delegation during the untimely incident in Iran," Jokowi said in a written statement on Monday (20/5/2024).
"My sincere prayer goes to the bereaved family and the people of Iran," he added.
Sunday's incident also killed Iranian Foreign Affairs Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, East Azerbaijan Governor Malik Rahmeti, and Imam Ayatollah Ali Hashim of Tabriz Province.
Separately, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi also offered her condolences for the passing of President Raisi and Minister Amir-Abdollahian.
"Innalillahi wainnailaihi raji'un. I’m deeply saddened over the passing of President Ebrahim Raisi and my good friend, FM Hossein Amirabdollahian of Iran, along with the delegation accompanying the President," Retno said.
"I reminisce my last meeting with Foreign Minister Abdollahian in Banjul, Gambia on the sidelines of the OIC Summit, two weeks ago. He’s a good colleague and we always made time to meet on the sidelines of various meetings. May his soul rest in peace," she added. (WHY)
