IDXChannel - The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) have been exploring economic, trade and tourism cooperation opportunities with Macau.
KJRI Hong Kong held a meeting with the Macau Airport Authority on 13 December. They discussed Macau's economic development, especially in the hospitality and tourism sectors.
KJRI Hong Kong proposed cooperation between Macau Airport and leading tourist destinations in Indonesia, such as New Bali and Lake Toba. It expressed its appreciation for the opening of direct flights between Macau and Jakarta.
Air Macau CEO Executive President Chen Hong identified Indonesia as a potential market and hoped to increase the frequency of direct flights. The Consulate General responded positively, emphasising the importance of connectivity in improving relations between the two sides.
During their visit to Macau, the KJRI Hong Kong delegation also visited the Macau Mosque and Cemetery, the only mosque in the territory. Imam Ding Shao Jie revealed that the mosque is not only a place of worship, but also a centre for Indonesian migrant workers to gather as a community.
