IDXChannel - Indonesia has invited Canada to collaborate with ASEAN to develop an electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in Southeast Asia.
Director General for ASEAN Cooperation at the Indonesian Foreign Ministry Sidharto Surdyodipuro noted Canada’s significant potential in the area of energy transition which could make Southeast Asia remain an epicenter of economic growth.
ASEAN member states, the Indonesian official said, are in talks for developing a regional ecosystem of electric vehicles.
“I also took note of Canada's significant potential in the area of energy transition. It has abundant resources in critical minerals such as cobalt and lithium,” Sidharto said.
“Canada can support and collaborate with the region in developing such certain fields like electric vehicle ecosystem that we in ASEAN are pursuing,” he added.
