IDXChannel - The governments of Indonesia and Malaysia have agreed to overcome the European Union's opposition against palm oil with joint diplomatic efforts in the near future.
Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto explained that, facing Europe's opposition against crude palm oil (CPO) products, there will be no boycott efforts.
The response of the two countries is related to the regulations on deforestation-free commodities in the regional bloc. It is expected to prevent unwanted impacts of the regulations.
In addition, the Indonesian and Malaysian governments will take collaborative steps
and seek balance between CPO producing countries and consumers.
“First, there are no boycotts. So we don’t to respond to what isn’t there. So of course we usually do socialization and communication efforts,” Airlangga stated.
