IDXChannel - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) departed for Hiroshima, Japan today to attend the Group of Seven (G7) Summit.
"This morning I, along with the First Lady and a small delegation, will depart for Hiroshima in Japan in order to fulfill the invitation of the G7 President," said Jokowi, shortly before departure, at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Jakarta, Friday (19/5 /2023).
According to Jokowi, the G7 meeting will later discuss a wide range of issues, including climate change, food, and energy.
"We will represent the Global South. Developing countries must be heard. Not only developed countries and big countries, but developing countries must also be heard in that forum, "Jokowi said.
Jokowi also said that he would discuss global issues at the G7 Summit, including the ongoing conflict in Myanmar.
