IDXChannel - The Malaysian government has confirmed that it will promote dialogues with the European Union after becoming chairman of the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC) in 2023.
Malaysia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Commodities Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof explained that Indonesia and Malaysia need to work together in improving the crude palm oil (CPO) Downstream industry to diversify products.
The Malaysian government will also continue to encourage cooperation with Indonesian government in supporting the interests of CPO products in Europe.
According to the Minister, Malaysia will not only encourage dialogues but also also communicate social and economic facts regarding CPO products. The country will explain that the socio-economic conditions of small CPO Farmers greatly influenced by sales of CPO products.
In addition to voicing the economic interest of low-income communities, CPOPC is committed to supporting sustainable oil palm. This will be encouraged through socialization of ISPO and MSPO certifications so that CPO products can be accepted by the international community and the standards are recognized worldwide.
