IDXChannel – The Indonesian Tobacco Society Alliance or AMTI urged the government to revise the 10 percent increase in excise tariffs on tobacco product. AMTI sees, that will affect the sustainability and certainty of investment in the tobacco industry. The Secretary General Of The Indonesian Tobacco Society Alliance or AMTI Hananto Wibisono said the amount of excise on tobacco product was too large.
Hananto even said that this decision was seen as the government did not carefully consider the sustainability of the tobacco sector and the tobacco industry.
Previously, the government decided to increase the excise rate on tobacco product for cigarettes by an average of 10 perscent. Where the increase in tobacco excise rates for machine- rolled kretek cigarettes, machined white cigarettes, was increased by 11 point 5 and 11 point 75, while for kretek pangan cigarettes it increased by 5 percent.
