US Committed to Supporting ASEAN's Post-Pandemic Recovery

IDXChannel - The United States (US) is committed to supporting Southeast Asia’s post-pandemic recovery and ensuring the region’s stability.  

According to a fact sheet released by the US Department of State, the US has provided more than USD14.1 billion in economic, health, and security assistance to Southeast Asian countries since 2002.

Moreover, the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) has advanced over USD2 billion in private sector investments in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region across key sectors such as clean energy, infrastructure, and financial services.  

Vietnam is the biggest recipient of DFC’s investments, with USD737 million, followed by USD526 million in Indonesia, and USD80 million in the Philippines.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited Vientiane, Laos on Saturday (27/7/2024) to join the US–ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference, the 14th East Asia Summit (EAS) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, and the 31st ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF).
