IDXChannel – Bank Indonesia urges Bank to provide attractive interest rates, so that foreign investment flows are attracted to Indonesia and remain afloat.
Senior Deputy Governor of bank Indonesia Destry Damayanti said that currently various countries are competing with each other to attract foreign investment flow into their country. According to her as of November 2022 there are capital inflow to Indonesia of around USD8,8 trillion.
Even though the year to date is still negative this is a positive signal for Indonesia. Therefore Indonesia must be quick to seize this opportunity. One of them is by providing attractive banking interest rates for foreign investors.
“At least the perception of global investors to see Indonesia as one of their investment places has started to show positive signs. We hope that in the future, banks can also offer attractive interest rates. Because we are also currently competing with many other countries who are also trying to attract US dollars. With a large potential for funds, it needs to be drawn here with attractive interest rates,” she said.
