IDXChannel - Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have held the second Joint Consular Committee Consultation (JCCC) in Jakarta on 11-12 December 2024.
This meeting is a joint commitment of both countries to increasing consular cooperation and also the citizen service and protection of both parties.
"This meeting raised important issues including consular issues, especially in terms of protecting Indonesian Migrant Workers, immigration data exchange, diplomatic facilities, and visa-free visits for ordinary passport holders," the Indonesian Foreign Ministry said in a media release on Friday (13/12/2024).
The meeting discussed, among others, the Visa Free Visit Agreement which is targeted to advance the business and tourism sectors of both countries, where Indonesian citizens who use ordinary passports can visit the UAE without using a visa, but also guarantees that the visa-free visa cannot be converted into a visa for work purposes.
The two countries also explained the use of technology in updating the mechanism for providing consular services and protection for citizens.
