IDXChannel - Indonesia is closely monitoring developments in Syria after the fall of Syrian Presiden Bashar al Assad.
"Indonesia is deeply concerned about their impact on regional security and the resulting humanitarian consequences," the Indonesian Foreign Ministry said on X on Sunday (8/12/2024).
According to the Indonesian government, the crisis in Syria can only be resolved through an inclusive, democratic, and peaceful transition.
Moreover, the transition should prioritize the interests and safety of the Syrian people and safeguard the country's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.
"Indonesia calls on all parties to ensure the protection of civilians in accordance with international law, particularly International Humanitarian Law and International Human Rights Law," it stated.
