IDXChannel - The Indonesian government has strongly condemned Israel's attacks in South Lebanon on Thursday (10/10/2024). The attacks injured two United Nations (UN) peacekeeping personnel from the country.
The two Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) soldiers, who are members of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), suffered minor injuries while carrying out monitoring tasks at the monitoring tower at the Indonesian contingent headquarters in Naqoura.
Naqoura is located in southern Lebanon, in the area designated as the blue line. UN peacekeepers are present in the area under a UN Security Council (UNSC) mandate to support Lebanon's stability.
"Both personnel immediately received treatment at a nearby hospital and are currently in good condition," the Indonesian Foreign Ministry said in its statement.
"The wounds sustained by the two personnel came from shells fired from Merkava tanks. The Indonesian Foreign Minister has communicated directly with the commander of the Garuda contingent FHQSU (Force Headquarter Support Unit)," it said.
