IDXChannel - Indonesian Ambassador to Sudan, Sunarko has held a coordination meeting with Sudanese Minister of Health Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim. Indonesia plans to send medical aid to the conflict-affected country.
"The aid is planned to be sent from Jakarta to Port Sudan using Garuda Indonesia airlines," the Indonesian Embassy in Khartoum stated in a media release on Monday (1/4/2024).
The coordination meeting was held at the Sudanese Ministry of Healthheadquarters in Port Sudan on Friday. Officials from the Sudanese Ministry of Health and Ministry of Foreign Affairs also participated in the meeting.
The meeting discussed preparations for the dispatch of emergency medical assistance from the Government of Indonesia, which includes medical supplies and medicines as requested by the Sudanese Government, with a total value reaching USD1 million.
During the meeting, Minister of Health Haitham expressed appreciation to the Government of Indonesia for this ongoing assistance. Despite the considerable distance, Indonesia and Sudan have a very close relationship.
