IDXchannel - The Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, said that he would lobby the World Health Organization (WHO) in March to have the status of the Covid-19 pandemic lifted slowly.
"Pandemics, right, happen globally. So, we have to lobby the WHO. I will come starting in March to say that Indonesia is in order," said Budi in the National Coordination Meeting for Handling COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery, Thursday (26/1/2023).
"There are countries that are worse than Indonesia, but, right, many are already feeling right. Let's slowly withdraw [the pandemic status]," he continued to explain.
The Minister of Health said that if the pandemic status is stopped, some of the government obligations contained in the Law (UU) will be resolved.
On the same occasion, the Minister of Health also revealed the government's strategy in transitioning to endemic, which is to slowly lift government intervention to the community. Thus, interventions will not be as stringent as during the pandemic.
