IDXChannel - Indonesia has welcomed the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, as has been consistently advocated by the country and the international community.
"The implementation of this agreement must be carried out immediately and comprehensively to halt the loss of lives in Gaza," the Indonesian Foreign Ministry said in a statemen, Thursday (16/1/2024)
The ceasefire deal between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas was announced Wednesday. It will come into effect on Sunday.
The initial phase will last six weeks. Hamas will release 33 Israeli hostages, while Israel will free a large number of Palestinian prisoners.
Details of the next phases will be negotiated during the first phase. Israel has killed more than 46 thousand Palestinians in Gaza since the war began in October 2023.
