IDXChannel - Indonesia has welcomed the decisions by Ireland, Spain and Norway to formally recognize the State of Palestine.
"The recognition is important for the implementation of two-state solution, the Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday (28/5/2024).
"Indonesia urges other countries to recognize the State of Palestine," the Ministry stated.
Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi met with foreign ministers of Norway, Ireland, and Spain in Brussels on 26-27 May.
During the meeting, Retno urged the European Union to support Palestine's full membership at the United Nations. She also reiterated Indonesia's support in defending humanity and justice for all Palestinians.
"I congratulate and appreciate Spain, Ireland, and Norway for their decision to recognize the State of Palestine," Retno said on her official X account. (WHY)
