IDXChannel - Indonesia is committed to participating in the development of renewable energy in Cambodia, such as hydro and solar energy.
"We are also keen to learn more from Cambodia, which has succeeded in transitioning much of its energy needs to more green alternatives," Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia Santo Darmosumarto stated during a meeting with Camnbodian Minister of Mines and Energy Keo Rattanak in Phnom Penh on 26 June.
While coal remains as the leading trade commodity between the two countries, both the Ambassador and the Minister believe that there is immense potential for the two countries to cooperate in new and renewable energy resources.
"This is very much in line with Indonesia and Cambodia's commitment to tackle climate change and reduce carbon emissions," the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh stated.
In a bid to address regional energy security, Minister Keo sought the support of Indonesia in concretely realizing of the ASEAN Power Grid. This initiative aims to enhance energy connectivity and security across Southeast Asia without compromising national sovereignty.
