IDXChannel - The Indonesian Supreme Court signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with the Australian Federal Court, and the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia in Jakarta on Tuesday (25/6/2024).

“These renewed MoUs mark two decades of strong cooperation and partnership between the Australian and the Indonesian courts,” said Deputy Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Gita Kamath, in a media release.

The first MOU that cemented this court-to-court partnership was signed in 2004. Over the past 20 years, this cooperation, supported by the Australian and Indonesian Governments, has deepened the relationship between judges and court officials.

This partnership has led to remarkable achievements in improving access to justice for women and people with disabilities, in transparency of court decisions, in simplifying commercial cases through small claims and electronic filing and in opening up opportunities for women judges to advance into leadership positions.

“I am optimistic that the benefits that can be obtained from this collaboration can continue. Our judiciary always finds critical things to be discussed and achieved collectively,” said Chief Justice Syarifuddin of the Supreme Court.
